Summer Wedding at Shinola Hotel

Brit and Al opted for a beautiful summer wedding at the Shinola Hotel in downtown Detroit. Shinola’s Birdy Room, featuring class ceilings and an airy, sunroom-style design, was the perfect fit for their summer ceremony.

Romantic and classy are the two words I would use to describe this gorgeous day. From the soft neutral palette of the bridesmaids’ dresses to the glitzy chandeliers and beautifully decorated tables in the reception, every detail was intentionally placed.

The Love Story

“It’s safe to say that meeting Albert was fate. Becoming his best friend was a choice and falling in love with him was beyond my control. I was head over heels for this man since the day I laid eyes on him.

As it was said many times in the speeches… Albert is a bit older than I am. We didn’t have many mutual friends, and we were at very different milestones in our life. I think that is why we were able to grow such a strong bond. He was the Yin to my Yang. He brought structure and stability into my life, where I brought chaos and spontaneity into his. We both complement each other so well.

Family is very important to us both, which is another reason why we are such a strong couple. Although we are twelve years apart, we have the same morals and goals in life. Growing up I cherished the love my parents had for each other. In my wildest dreams, I never thought I would be lucky to marry someone so special. I’m incredibly happy to say I found the man to share my life with.”

The Dress

“I am always a girl to plan her outfits. I have an obsession with clothes and I love having statement outfits. Truthfully, I thought it was going to take me a long time to find my dress, but in reality I found my dress at the first store I went to. Afterwards, I went to three different stores just to make sure I wasn’t missing anything, then returned to Sash and Bustle to purchase my dress.

I am a firm believer that you make the dress, the dress doesn’t make you. As far as the style, I knew I wanted something traditional and classy. Albert wanted that as well.

My seamstress did an amazing job transforming my dress. I had four separate appointments with her. She recreated my dress to fit me like a glove and the bustle was out of this world!”

Something Borrowed. Something Blue.

“My Meme asked if I wanted to borrow the necklace she wore on her wedding day. My grandpa passed away three years ago and I knew it would mean so much to her. I was so honored that she asked me to wear them, not even realizing they were blue until she showed me. It was my something blue. Seeing her face when she saw me for the first time in my dress, with her jewelry on, was priceless. We both started crying. It was such an amazing moment to share with her.”
