The Love Story
Laura and Nolan said, “I do” at the Birmingham Country Club in Detroit. The couple first met at Michigan State University, but their casual friendship grew more serious after graduation. By sheer coincidence, they were both beginning their careers in Chicago and decided to give love a chance in the summer of 2015. After moving in together in 2020 they adopted their sweet pup Penny. Their little family continued to explore every facet of life together, then Nolan asked Laura to marry him in the summer of 2021 with Penny by their side. After a whirlwind of wedding planning, they married on October 15th, 2022 in Michigan – back where it all began.
What drew you to your wedding gown?
“The Jane Hill Clover gown was the most stunning dress I had ever seen! I knew it was the one as soon as I tried it on. I was obsessed with the unique 3D floral applique with a classy pearl back button. All the details made this such a timeless and romantic dress with a little extra glam.”
Are there any details, like a piece of jewelry, that have a story?
“For my ‘something borrowed’ my Aunt kindly lent me her pearl, drop earrings that she wore on her own wedding day. My Aunt and my Uncle had the most beautiful relationship that I always admired growing up. Unfortunately, my Uncle passed away in 2020 due to Covid. He has been greatly missed over these past few years so it was nice to have a little piece of their relationship on my wedding day.”
What made you choose the venue?
“We have family members that belong to Birmingham Country Club and knew it would be the perfect spot for our wedding. We could not wait to have our Ceremony on the first tee with the remarkable fall views! Plus, having our wedding in Michigan to be closer to friends and family was a must.”
What was your favorite moment from the day?
“Oh boy – this is so hard to pick from! I would have to say my favorite part of the whole day was the ceremony. It was surreal to see all our friends and family in one place as I walked down the aisle to Nolan (plus I cannot get over the breathtaking décor and florals). My brother officiated the wedding and he made the ceremony feel so personal and loving, with a hint of his humor. It was beyond special!”
