Grant and Kirsten tied the knot at Meadow Brook Hall, a 1920s Tudor-style mansion in Rochester, Michigan. Both being from neighboring towns in Indiana, the couple has known each other since 6th grade but started dating freshman year of college. With Grant playing hockey at Miami of Ohio and Kirsten at Indiana University, the beginning of their relationship was road-trips and weekend visits.
After graduation, when Grant started his hockey career, Kirsten moved to a small beach town in Connecticut to be with him. Soon after they adopted their first long-haired German Shepherd puppy named Nellie, shortly after that came puppy number 2, Voss. Grant proposed on a casual evening walk with the dogs on the beach in 2021.
August 12, 2023 they became husband and wife.
Both being from Indiana, what made you choose Michigan for the wedding?
“I always knew I wanted to get married outside and in a big, white tent; which is very hard to come by during a hot Indiana summer. I wanted to be close enough that family and friends could drive. During our venue search, Megan our wedding planner, sent Meadow Brook Hall and I knew I had to visit! Our first visit was in the middle of a winter snow storm and I knew then that the venue was special. The grounds were magical then and even better in the summer.”
What was your favorite moment from the day?
“This is impossible to pick because the entire day was truly perfect. But if I have to pick my favorite moment from our wedding day, I’d say it was the ceremony. It was an unreal feeling to be able to look to the crowed and see over 200 of our favorite people. Family and friends from all different areas, times of life, all coming together to celebrate Grant and me was extremely special. It’s hard to put into words how much all of our friends and families mean to us. It really takes a village. The entire day we felt peaceful, supported, and loved beyond measure.”
